M²P is the Media, Movements and Politics research group at the University of Antwerp. M²P focuses on the relationship between institutional politics and society. M2P research's deals more specifically with three non-institutional political actors: social movements, mass media, and the public. How do these actors interact with institutional politics? How do they maintain their autonomous, non-institutional role? Are they important political actors or only negligible players? The more general question is to what extent these non-institutional political actors affect political decision-making. Or in other words: what is the political power of social movements, mass media, and the public?

M²P doet onderzoek naar media en middenveld. Met een uitgekiende methode bevragen we een representatief staal deelnemers aan protestmarsen, en peilen we naar hun motieven. Met het elektronisch nieuwsarchief (ENA) coderen we nieuwsitems van VRT en VTM op actor en itemniveau.
